The Garden Tower project in Hanoi was inspired by the capital’s ambitious program to plant one million new trees, launched in 2015. By 2018, the program was completed two years ahead of schedule, and a new goal of planting 300,000 additional trees in 2021 was set, with a vision that by 2030, each Hanoi resident would plant one tree. The saying “Everyone plants trees, every household plants trees, and every tree planted grows well” by former General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has become a rallying cry, encouraging everyone to actively contribute to the environment. From this spirit, S247 Architects developed the concept for the Garden Tower project, aiming to create not just an energy-efficient green building but also a structure that is truly “green” in visual and aesthetic terms.

Garden Tower is designed to serve as a vertical green space transit point between surrounding parks, creating a vertical green space. Layers of greenery arranged around the building act as a natural thermal barrier, helping reduce indoor temperatures in offices during hot summer days. As a result, the building can minimize air conditioning usage and save significant electricity. Beyond its aesthetic function,Garden Tower is likened to an “oxygen factory”, filtering dust and providing fresh air for customers and employees working there.

With its creative and sustainable vision, Garden Tower is not just a green building but also a symbol of environmentally friendly development, affirming the important role of green spaces in improving quality of life and building a sustainable city. Garden Tower will become the “green heart” of Hanoi, a new symbol for the future of sustainable urban development in harmony with nature.
