The Hanoi of today is transforming rapidly and becoming one of the most dynamic centers in Vietnam, within Asia, as well as the rest of the world.  Adjacent to the historical center of Hanoi, new urban spaces are being created to respond to high density needs for work and social activities.  It is within this context that the Thanh Cong Group has conceived an ambitious project for a headquarters tower in the suburb of Hanoi currently under development. This tower will provide a space for people to gather and share socially, and will turn existing offices into modern and open workspaces. The office design is meant to help people fulfill their dreams within their own social values and qualities.

The Thanh Cong Tower is designed to create an “open space” in contrast to the dense “closed in” areas that exist in much of Hanoi today. While large in scale, the tower will fit in a space large enough to not dwarf its surroundings, or the people that use it.

Using studies of proportions and geometric shapes, the building fits well into its urban context. The architectural expression on the exterior of the building is minimalist at its best. At the same time, thanks to the simple form, it offers interesting and open interior spaces for different organizations.

The climate of Hanoi is hot in summer, cold in winter with especially high humidity. In order to deal with this high variance in temperatures the ratio of opacity and transparency within the design is adapted to keep the building less affected. Altered expression of mass and lightness brings out an interesting façade, which is both simple and dynamic.

The upper floors provide offices while the first floor is designed for car showrooms and a conference center.

The Thanh Cong tower seeks to become new landmark for the new suburb of Hanoi.
